Ainslie Bull

Marketing Communication, 2021

My name is Ainslie. I’m a passionate creative with a love for marketing communications, media, public relations and design. I’ve completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Media, and have a strong background working in media and social media. I have experience in issue management and strong organisational skills through managing multiple jobs whilst studying full-time at the University of Canberra. I’m always looking for a challenge or a new problem to solve.

Prior to this experience, I worked as a dance teacher for 5 years and in customer service for 7 years, through which I’ve worked openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people. I enjoy working in a team and strive to learn new skills everyday. I believe effective communication strategy and execution has the power change they way people view things, and I look forward to being a part of this change in my future career.

Selected Portfolio

ACT Coat of Arms

ACT Coat of Arms

The ACT Government partnered with the University of Canberra to develop a Territory Coat of Arms or insignia to add to the existing City of Canberra Coat of Arms, representing our diverse, modern, and inclusive Territory. My design (see left) focusses on ACT as ‘The Bush Capital’, notably through the use of plants and wildlife native to the region. I chose to veer from the traditional coat of arms framework and base my design around the symbol for ‘meeting place’. Canberra is derived from Koyanberra, meaning ‘meeting place’ in the Ngunnawal language.

ANZ Financial Wellbeing Campaign

ANZ Financial Wellbeing Campaign

In partnership with Imogen Craig, I developed this Instagram story promotion for the ANZ Financial Wellbeing Campaign (see left). Our approach to appeal to young Australians was to personify the bank as a caring parent who has the knowledge to guide customers through their financial journey.

Services Australia Emergency Messaging

Services Australia Emergency Messaging

During my internship as a Media Advisor at Services Australia, I was responsible for pulling together a media and social media pack in response to a snap lockdown in Brisbane earlier this year. This involved writing posts for both the Services Australia Twitter and Facebook pages (see left) and talking points for our General Manager and spokesperson, Hank Jongen. The purpose of this messaging was to encourage Centrelink customers to complete their business online, and as a result, minimise the number of people visiting service centres.

T2 Time Unwrapped Campaign

T2 Time Unwrapped Campaign

I was honoured to represent the University of Canberra as Team Leader and Creative Lead in the IAA Big Idea national students' marketing communications competition for 2021. Our team—MUSE—produced a 12-month integrated marketing campaign proposal for T2 Tea to position their products as a go-to gift for all occasions, drive T2's penetration and attract new customers amongst the Chinese-speaking Asian and South Asian audiences living in Australia. Our 'big idea' was to relate the concept of giving tea to giving time, which is highly valued by the target audience. I would like to give credit to our Lead Strategist and Assistant Designer, Megan Rose, Lead Researcher, Hina Misra, Lead Media Strategist, Imogen Craig, and our Lead Designer, Aidan Baron, for the work produced. Please see our 3-min pitch video below.
