Bailey Clarke
Visual Communication Design, 2021
My name’s Bailey, I’m a Graphic Designer and Illustrator based in Canberra, Australia. I’m currently studying a double degree in Graphic Design and Marketing Communications at the University of Canberra, and I’m on track to graduate at the end of 2021.
As a designer, my skillset leans towards branding and illustration, however during my time at UC I have acquired a strong base of skills in many design disciplines such as data visualisation, visual storytelling, UX design, typography and layout, and various other design principles. In addition to these skills, I have also gained many useful skills from my Marketing Communications degree, and these augment my skills as a designer. I can look at a brief from both a design and marketing perspective, and generate ideas informed by both disciplines. I also have developed a knack for presentations and pitching, and have grown as a communicator and problem solver.
I’m looking to really build my workplace experience and refine my skillset in a professional environment. My ideal work is in the not-for-profit sector as I find that type of work very rewarding, however I would cherish the opportunity to work anywhere!
All my work (including some pieces not shown here) can be found on my website, and they all have full write-ups and links to finished products.

Australia's Biggest Thanks
This project saw myself and a small team researching, planning, and designing a campaign guide for Fortem Australia’s non-for-profit organisation Thank a First Responder Day. Aside from assisting with research, I was the Design Lead on this project. This meant that I not only generated all visual elements for the campaign, but I also designed the campaign document and participated in the pitching of the final product.

Quasar Finance
This project involved creating a brand and style guideline for a finance brand with a 24-hour deadline. I see this as an expression of my ability to not only execute on a brief in an aesthetically pleasing manner but to also do so within a tight timeframe. While the small timeline didn't allow for me to create as robust a guideline document as I'd have liked, I think the overall branding and demonstration of its execution show my strengths in branding and identity system creation.

Cults: A Visual Guide
This project saw me conducting a lot of research, condensing lots of complex data and diverse groups into an informational guide. My favourite aspect of this design is the way that I not only created a cohesive look throughout all graphic elements but also used design principles to craft a good layout which was then made better by interactive features.

Those Who Perished
This project involved a lot of research wherein I gathered data about WWII, specifically the mortality rate per country. I’m very proud of this data visualisation as I believe the visuals help to contextualise the sheer scale of the event, and while the interactivity is somewhat rudimentary I think the stark aesthetics and the use of statistics help to cement the tone of the project as respectfully as possible.
