Master of Architecture, 2021
My name is Bruno, I am a graduating student of the Master of Architecture program. Throughout the years i have learned a lot through different projects that challenged me and my skills in a team environment. I have gained valuable knowledge in the discipline of architecture and its fundamentals and have grown as a person and a student of architecture.
For the final masters project I was tasked with creating a grand hybrid complex in collaboration with my colleagues, Braulio and Luis. The project began with the drawing stage in which we produced a 2D drawing based on an analysis we did on Canberras grid and triangle as well as on the past and current situations of the site. Coming from this we developed a 3D hybrid complex, initially we drew upon the various aspects of hybridity and the connections between the spaces of the different brief elements distributed throughout the complex. Forming the composition of the complex we instigated the principles of designing hybrid urban spaces in the context of a city space. Based on these principles which relate to one another through intersections in the forms, the hybrid complex is predominantly composed of a north residential tower, a south residential tower, performance sphere, elevated roof garden, lower elevated office structure, central shopping centre and the main social condenser, the undulating surface which covers most of the recreational spaces of the street level and also acts as a function space where one is able to access through various points.
My focus was on the elevated roof structure which is a public space containing restaurants, bars, cafes, and public spaces as well as the main roof garden on the top for people to walk and relax. I also focused on the north residential tower which is mainly residential but also contains public spaces, office spaces and recreational spaces, made up of different circulatory systems connecting each level and distinct void elements between each.
