Courtney Busby

Corporate & Public Communication, 2022

I am currently in my final semester studying a Bachelor of Media and Communications (Corporate and Public Communications) at the University of Canberra.

Once completing my degree this year, I aim to find full-time work that relates to communications, media operations and public relations.

Finding suitable employment will expand my professional knowledge, experiences and training whilst gaining confidence in a hands-on environment.

As a communications and media student, I aim to seize every opportunity offered to me to develop my career through the communications and media industry. I am excited to apply my learned knowledge and to apply my new skills in a professional environment.

Make sure to review my portfolio for examples of work I have undertaken throughout my university studies and internship experiences.

Press Release – ACT Policing

Press Release – ACT Policing

In 2021, I undertook a three-week internship within the Media Operations team with ACT Policing. During my internship, the ACT Government declared areas of NSW as Covid-19 hotspots and closed the ACT border to non-ACT residents. As a result of these actions, ACT Policing undertook compliance activity to support the ACT public health direction. As part of this process, I produced a press release to provide an update to the ACT community on the on-going compliance activities ACT Policing were currently undertaking in response to the ACT public health direction. I also distributed a media advisory to all major Canberra news outlets, assisted in hosting a press conference and drafting talking points for ACT Policing executive to support this press release.

This memo summarises the latest research in organisational communication and how these insights could be relevant to the ASC public communication efforts.
