Dempsey Ward
Marketing Communication, 2022
Hey, my name’s Dempsey! I am just about to graduate with a double degree of Communication and Media / Business, with a keen interest to get into the marketing field. I specialise in copywriting, research, and communication strategies.
I want to use my skills and expertise that I have developed over my degree into a professional career pathway within the communications and media industry. Further on in my career, I would love to be leading a team, whether it be in the public or private sector.

Selected Portfolio

IAA - Big Idea Competition
Every year, the International Advertising Association hosts a competition for undergraduate students to create a marketing campaign and pitch which focuses upon their ‘Big Idea’. The client for 2022 was Ziinkle, a local dating application company. The ‘Make Shiit Happen’ idea started from realising that us humans are too comfortable with life happening around us. It pulls focus on people being a trailblazer and finding authentic connections with others by taking a risk and making shit happen. My main involvement was with creating the strategy produced within the marketing campaign document. I also got my acting debut in our 30-second commercial! Nomad Atomics Rebrand
I became involved with Nomad Atomics (A Canberra based Quantum physics company) in the late part of 2021. The objective set within the client brief was to revitalise Nomad Atomics through their socials, website and updated elements of their branding. Our team knew that the new brand rejuvenation needed to be fresh, fun, vibrant, and engaging - all whilst still being professional and informative in nature. I produced three main elements; Social media calendar, Brand strategy and copy for the website. Aeroplane Jelly Print Campaign
Aeroplane Jelly stated that the campaign must focus on mums of Young Aussie kids aged 2 - 12 years. Our team played into the perspective of parents feeling nostalgic, and wanting to 'recover a forgotten secret’ when purchasing Aeroplane Jelly. Team members: Bella Mullaney, Tash Kelly, Liam Spence, Carl Bauer, Dempsey Ward

NCACL - 'Dog Tales' Gallery
I co-produced and set up a gallery which ran for two months at the University of Canberra. The project’s main aim was to incorporate material from the National Centre for Australian Children’s Literature and UC to create a gallery that would help draw in not only the community at UC, but also the wider community at large. This project had the same process as any other creative project: Preparation, Incubation, Evaluation and final design. It was crucial as the copywriter that the content was able to be interesting to adults and the elderly, but also easily comprehensible to kids who walked through the gallery. https://www.ncacl.org.au/gallery-exhibitions/dog-tales-an-exhibition/ Team members: Steve Pang, Holly Wu, Anna Xia, Dempsey Ward
