In completing units that involve developing expertise in media, public relations, strategic and political communication, I have an understanding of how to use social and digital media to work with companies and organisations to communicate with their audience. With nearly two years of experience in various media and communications roles, I continue to develop these skills take pride in professionally developing compelling and creative communications content to inform and engage an audience.

Selected Portfolio

Internship, Communications Unit, Office of the ACT Chief Minister
In 2019 I completed a three month internship at the Communications Unit of the office of the ACT Chief Minister. During my time at the Legislative Assembly I significantly enhanced my skills in writing media releases, communicating on social media, and working as a media liaison. For the 50th year anniversary of the 1969 moon landing, myself and a small team accompanied the Minister for Advanced Technology and Space Industries, Mick Gentleman to the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex to develop communications about Canberra’s involvement in the iconic event. Prior to this, I assisted with drafting a media release and working on talking points for the Minister. At the Complex, we gathered footage and content and later sought out the best location for a piece to camera. After this I worked closely with the social media team to edit the video and develop content to communicate to an external audience.

Digital Engagement - Social Media Campaign Task
Part of the digital engagement unit was a group project where we developed, implemented, and analysed a social media campaign. Part of my role in this was to write copy and develop Instagram posts for a 'Canberra Careers' campaign, as part of our goal of promoting Canberra as a great place to study and progress through a meaningful career.

Sounds Stories
As an elective unit, I tapped into my creative side, utilised a different set of skills and stepped out of my comfort zone to develop a number features based on a story I had sourced. As well as being very professionally rewarding, it was very interesting and a lot of fun.
