Visual Communication Design, 2021

Hey there! I’m the creative mind behind Design.Wally.

I’ve been inspired my whole life by the visual world around me. I thrive on my creativity, using it as a way to express and construct the way I understand things. Design has been an outlet for my curiosity and exploration. I have a strong connection with typography, layout and press design however, I’m alway looking for new ways to showcase my identity by the means of art and design.

Im all about good times and good vibes! Always open for a chat so don’t hesitate to drop a line at anyone of my socials.

Iconic Canberra Pins

Iconic Canberra Pins

This project was done during my product and packaging design unit. The unit was built around a brief on designing a product that was suited to be sold at the national gallery of Australia store. The product had to appeal to both interstate/national guest as well as the local community. This unit involved plenty of consumer and product research. The Icons of Canberra Pins can from research on the products sold at the NGV and areas of potential. Creating something unique that would appeal to the Canberra audience as well as those visiting I ended up designing pins on Canberra icons. The Belconnen owl and Telstra tower became the focal points of the design.

Pop Inn Wine Label

Pop Inn Wine Label

This project was from a freelance project received by the Pop Inn Wine Bar. the brief was to make a label filled with plenty of Canberra.ism related to the pop up locations. The wine was a perfect spring/summer sipper, a rosé made in collaboration with the folks at Tscharke Wines in Barossa.

Head to Tail

Head to Tail

Head to tail was a project that was completed in design for low complexity Unit. The brief of this assignment was to design a plate, cup or bowl suited for the restaurant environment that was aiming to create zero waste for 100 years. The unit included lots of pin ups and design revisions to develop the final product. From research and development my product was based on the head to tail cooking technique in which the chef attempts to use every part of the product with no waste. The plate is built by using scrapes from the restaurant such as oyster shells, bones and spent coffee grounds which is set in a biodegradable epoxy. Giving it the ability to be compostable after its life cycle.

Expression of the Capital?

Expression of the Capital?

A more recent university class that has tested my layout design and critical thinking. The Information Visualisation unit is built on one large project split into two tasks. The first one is to take a data set within a given theme and produce an Information Graphic in a A0 –A2 poster size. I took a data set about the public art displays in Canberra and introduced a story of the lack of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islanders represented in the public art space. This assignment encouraged me to think outside the data set to find new areas of explanation and use visual techniques to tell a story on a data set that most people would simply look over. It also tested my layout skill as I presented the findings on a printable layout that told a visual story with minimal text.
