Kes Elliott
Culture & Heritage, 2021
Hi, I’m Kes Elliott and I’m due to complete a Bachelor of Arts specialising in Culture and Heritage at the end of this year. I have always had an interest in the stories we tell; specifically, fairy tales, folklore and myth, as well as how they differ depending on the culture they come from and how they have evolved over the span of human history.
At the start of 2021 I undertook an internship at the UC Heritage Conservation Laboratory which allowed me to further understand and appreciate the conservation units I took in both semesters of the same year so that I could have a better understanding of both sides of working in the cultural sector.
My love of stories comes from my family, and I wanted to use one of the conservation units I was enrolled in to show how much I appreciate everything my family does for me. The object conservation I am showcasing here is the restoration of one of my parents most loved books.
Going forward from here, I hope to do an honours year where I can focus on my love of fairy tales and from there work in the cultural sector.
