Lachlan Larney-Dawson
Architecture, 2021
Hi, my name is Lachlan and I am a third year graduate of Architecture from the University of Canberra. Growing up in a family fortunate enough to travel many places, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to see many parts of the world. When I turned 18 I moved over and worked in the UK for a year during which I travelled as a backpacker throughout Europe, an experience that has profoundly shaped my perceptions on life and the world around us.
My professional goals in architecture are simple in many ways, I have a deep love and passion for the natural environment and have a keen interest on the way that passion can be reflected in our built environments. Sustainability is at the forefront, both socially and environmentally, and I am only more keen to better understand and utilize the tools we have in front of us to shape our world.
Besides this I am forever intrigued as to how we might live our lives to the fullest, and the position the architect has to enhance and improve the lives of many. I am passionate and curious in my everyday and excited to explore the many facets of architecture, hoping to expand my knowledge in every way I possibly can!
I'm looking for a job.

Civic Sanctuary
Civic Sanctuary is a free flowing cultural vessel aimed to both juxtapose and foster the relationship between the urban and natural environment. Its non-specific program and simplistic materiality makes it a suitable canvas for the expression of various cultures and subcultures in Canberra. Inspired by the green/urban free flowing nature of the garden city, the Sydney building arches and the grid alignments from the Sydney and CMAG columns, this design embodies a natural topographical rhythm from which a placement of strategic points of tension or turbulence create a journey up and over, or down and through the buildings. Designed to be either a grass or paved/landscaped roof building. This design provides green relief to the civic urban environment as an ever evolving day/night contextual composition.
