Matt Haggan
Visual Communication Design, 2021
My name’s Matt, I’m a visual designer and illustrator working out of Canberra. I have been working in private industry and public service roles for more than 12 years. I am graduating in 2021 with a very part time Bachelor of visual communication design. For my student work, I have been aiming to develop my illustration skills.
My professional focus is championing user-centered visual design with a focus on narrative design and storytelling. My skillset is strongest in tools and techniques that enable this focus, including data visualisation, user journeys, experience maps and service blueprints. Most of my work involves elements of hand-drawn illustration.
I am practiced in high profile stakeholder workshop facilitation, commonly working alongside service design leads while live scribing discussion on large scale print media or through digital applications.
In the past several years I have begun taking on roles teaching and mentoring design thinking and communication to individuals and small groups. I also advocate and promote illustration and visual thinking for user-centered design wherever I work.
I have awards and nominations to my name for design innovation with the Department of Health and the Australian Taxation Office.
I'm looking for a job.
