Thomas Fiander

Thomas studies a degree in filmmaking at the University of Canberra, due to graduate in 2022. He has worked on various projects both in and outside of the University. Thomas works in the Camera Department of most of his projects, specialising in grip, gaffer, lighting and assistant camera on local Canberra productions. Thomas has worked for local productions such as Sanguineti Media. Space Farers Civilisation Films (SFC), Vorfreude Pictures, and many more.
Thomas also utilises his skills in videography to create media content for UC Thrive in his position as a Student Success and Wellbeing Officer and for Aspire UC as a Senior Aspiration Agent.
Thomas aspires to produce future projects as well as enter the realm of teaching in hopes of further building the Canberra filmmaking community and foster a generation of future filmmakers.

After a drastic set of circumstances, Daniel struggles to pull himself out of a depressive episode. Causing him to become a recluse limited to the confines of his own home, during which some strange and unexplainable occurrences being to happen. Thomas’ final graduate work currently in pre-production. This film generates a momentum of positive and vibrant energy. An energy that is sought and value by those seeking an end to a pandemic lifestyle. This film has the potenial to inspire audiences to seeks recconection to friends and family. Our production seeks to utilise the natural beauty of Canberra's lakes and parks to help promote the territory as a valid and ideal location for future productions. The film aims to inspire hope for audiences which we believe will also gauge that attention and satisfaction of film festival adjudicators. We will be aiming for local festivals such as the Canberra Short Film Festival and screenings held by film groups Film Plus and the University of Canberra Film Society. This will help generate local interest in our future productions and gain more support by local filmmakers to participate. This film has the potenial to reach out to audiences and spark a sense of hope and recognition of their own wellbeing. It also reaches out to filmmakers, established and emerging, to continue including positive messages in their stories.
