Global Studies, 2021
My name is Zheng Xu and I am in the final semester at the University of Canberra for the bachelor’s degree in Global Studies, and I will complete the bachelor’s degree in International Relations and International Affairs at Hubei University because of their collaborative program. I have gained various skills and experience from these two different education systems, and most importantly, I have broadened the way of looking at the world as global, critical, and inclusive. Having played the role of leader in several team projects, I sharpened the skill of communicating and teamwork.
My experiences in 2020 as a social media intern assisting a fashion blogger in Shanghai have brought me understandings of the relationship between digital media and its audiences, which inspired me a lot for the course Marketing Communication. I also worked as an intern editor at Wuhan Broadcasting and Television Station this year, learned more about traditional media, and improved my written communication skills.
Besides these, I also have participated in some extracurricular activities such as volunteering as an interpreter for speakers from other countries at TEDx China and joining the 2019 ICOMOS-Wuhan Youth Crossover Forum with four team members and winning the Best Expression Award. Other speech competitions I have participated in and have won prizes also helped me develop great oral communication skills.
My wide variety of academic, volunteer, and teamwork experience have provided me with outstanding skills and I am more than happy to apply them to real works as I move forward.
