Zoe Taylor
Master of Architecture, 2020
My name is Zoe Taylor. I began studying at the University of Canberra in 2015 and have completed a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and now a Master of Architecture. I have been fortunate to be working within industry for most of my architectural studies. Having the balance between professional and academic development has been incredibly beneficial and was encouraged by my colleagues and the academic staff at UC. I have had many highlights throughout my studies at UC including undertaking an elective in Italy. But one of the standout moments was being nominated for the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Silver Medal Award with James Sekoranja for our semester one studio project of 2020.
My graduation studio, in collaboration with James Sekoranja, was a project within Haig Park. The scale of what to design was a huge consideration and ultimately, after analysis, a sporting complex felt most fitting. Within this project I detailed the swimming complex which included an Olympic size swimming pool, a diving pool, associated amenities, and a media box. It also had to respond to a bar full of program running through the middle of it, detailed by James.
